Live Our Old Age in God-Pleasing Ways <Ps 71:17-18; 92:12-15; Titus 2:1-5>

1. Elderly usually faces two issues:

1) Too at ease.

·      Treat retirement as a never-ending vacation, not willing to labor anymore, but only desire pleasures.

·       When one knows he is about to meet the Lord, should all the more prepare for it earnestly and seriously.

·      Old age and retirement are not the final stations of life.

2) Too miserable.

·      Body deteriorates, feels unwell

·      Feel useless

·      Feel lonely

·      Financial stress

·      Fear of the approaching death

* Read <Ps 71:17-18; 92:12-15>

2. Still bear fruit in old age! <Ps 92:14>

* Read <Titus 2:1-5>

·      Be sober-minded, self-controlled and set good example for the younger ones.

·      In old age, should have less bondages.

·      “Teach what is good”, especially to those younger ones.

·      In old age, still “stay fresh and green” <Ps 92:14>: Confirm God’s new grace (not grace decades ago), gain deeper insights from God’s word, pay attention to needs of people around you and care for them, shepherding them.

·      The prayers of a “righteous” elderly is powerful and effective!

3. God’s comfort and assurance to the elderly.
