In uncertainties, I appeal to you to renew. <Ro12:1-4; 2Ch1:7-10; Lk14:28-30,33>

1. Even if the gospel is known, many varied uncertainties confuse the believer on what to strive on

Read <Ro 12:1-4>

1 I appeal to you therefore, brothers, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable to God, which is your spiritual worship. 2 Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect. 3 For by the grace given to me I say to everyone among you not to think of himself more highly than he ought to think, but to think with sober judgment, each according to the measure of faith that God has assigned. 4 For as in one body we have many members, and the members do not all have the same function,

2. I appeal you.

1) Not a command, but an appeal.

2) Appeal by the mercies of God (appeal on the basis of love), so that the good works would not be under compulsion but willingly.

3) I appeal you to give the reasonable service that the Lord wants (to right the wrongs and set things proper).

4) I appeal you not to conform to this world (living in the flesh) but see this world rightly.

3. The knowledge of God alone renews and transforms your mind.

Read <2Ch1:7-10>

7 In that night God appeared to Solomon, and said to him, “Ask what I shall give you.” 8 And Solomon said to God, “You have shown great and steadfast love to David my father, and have made me king in his place. 9 O Lord God, let your word to David my father be now fulfilled, for you have made me king over a people as numerous as the dust of the earth.

10 Give me now wisdom and knowledge to go out and come in before this people, for who can govern this people of yours, which is so great?”

1) To allow the truth to renew our heart and mind, it requires work.

2) Renewal of the mind must be eagerly sought (for lifetime), then there can be transformation.

3) In this way, we can then test and approve God’s will in taking care of His church.

3. The will of God comes according to everyone’s role and their measure of faith.

Read < Lk14:28-30,33>

28 For which of you, desiring to build a tower, does not first sit down and count the cost, whether he has enough to complete it?29 Otherwise, when he has laid a foundation and is not able to finish, all who see it begin to mock him,30 saying, ‘This man began to build and was not able to finish.’ 33 So therefore, any one of you who does not renounce all that he has cannot be my disciple.

1) The most important work is the gospel, so there must be schedule and deliverables.

2) This will work out for our proper repentance and renewal.

3) Self-control and faith are to be evaluated and judged.

4) For this era, we need to raise our game at serving.
