The Hour Has Come to Wake Up from Slumber. <Ro 13:11-14>

1. Is your spirit asleep?

·      Unaware, insensitive and inactive toward God’s presence and works, as well as toward the enemy.

·      Beware of “spiritual sleepwalking”: Seem to have spiritual actions, but spirit is in slumber, caring for earthly things instead of eternal kingdom.

·      Spiritual appetite small, carnal appetite big.

·      Strangely, although do not seek God, still hope God can bless.

2. What put believers to sleep usually?

·      Comfort and ease.

·      Love for the world and sin.

·      Lack of awareness of dangers or the enemy’s presence.

<Mt 13> 24 Jesus told them another parable: “The kingdom of heaven is like a man who sowed good seed in his field.25 But while everyone was sleeping, his enemy came and sowed weeds among the wheat, and went away.

·      Long-time believer, fought many spiritual battles, get lethargic or complacent toward end of journey and thus fall asleep.

3. God says it is time to wake up from slumber!

Read <Ro 13:11-14>

1) “Understand the present time” <Ro 13:11>.

·      Tribulations are to awaken man, so that man can be humbled and turn to God.

·      “Time” not just refers to “window of opportunity”, but also to limited time, because “our salvation is nearer now than when we first believed”.

2) Respond to the time and opportunities which God has given us.

·      “Put on the armor of light” <Ro 13:12>: Not at ease but at war.

·      “The hour has come to wake up from slumber”: Do now what you have always known you should do.

·      Do not fall into slumber with regard to loving God and men.

4. Guard our spirits against falling into slumber.

·      Watch and pray <Mt 26:40-41>.

·      Always be awakened by God’s word.

·      Love holiness.

·      Always be near brethren-in-Christ.
