How much should we care about the Holy Spirit? <Ac10:36-38; Heb2:1–4; 5:12-14>

Read <Ac 10:36-38>

36 The word which God sent to the children of Israel, preaching peace through Jesus Christ—He is Lord of all—

37 that word you know, which was proclaimed throughout all Judea, and began from Galilee after the baptism which John preached:

38 how God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Spirit and with power, who went about doing good and healing all who were oppressed by the devil, for God was with Him.

1. We should be as concerned with the Holy Spirit as with God's Word.

1) No one can be saved and sanctified without the Holy Spirit.

2) We need to discover the common points to both the temporal and continuing gifts of the Holy Spirit to fully experience God

3) In fact, the Holy Spirit is needed as an internal witness to persuade sinners to receive the bible as God’s word (for salvation)

Read <Heb 2:1–4>

1 We must pay more careful attention, therefore, to what we have heard, so that we do not drift away.

2 For if the message spoken by angels was binding, and every violation and disobedience received its just punishment,

3 how shall we escape if we ignore such a great salvation? This salvation, which was first announced by the Lord, was confirmed to us by those who heard him.

4 God also testified to it by signs, wonders and various miracles, and gifts of the Holy Spirit distributed according to his will.

2. The meaning that the Holy Spirit works primarily through scriptures.

1) Do miracles point towards claiming the great salvation of God? The reason for miracles is to hear what God has to speak to us plainly.

2) The meaning that there is not a secondary channel for the Holy Spirit to convict us apart from the scriptures.

Read <Heb 5:12-14

12 For though by this time you ought to be teachers, you need someone to teach you again the first principles of the oracles of God; and you have come to need milk and not solid food.

13 For everyone who partakes only of milk is unskilled in the word of righteousness, for he is a babe.

14 But solid food belongs to those who are of full age, that is, those who by reason of use have their senses exercised to discern both good and evil.

3. Perhaps the common threads of all experiences we seek for is the illumination of the Holy Spirit.

1) We do not get new revelation but illumination because no new information is added by the Holy Spirit.

2) We must receive and teach the whole counsel of God, mindful of the tendencies of the contemporary believers

3) Struggle for the right faith that sets the heart and mind on worshipping God in spirit and in truth.

4) The Spirit of understanding grants creativity, wisdom and breakthroughs, equipping us for every good work.
