Developing Practical Wisdom <Ja1:2-4,12,5; 3:13-18; 1:27; 2:26, 22>

1. Reflective wisdom <Jas 1:5> = to get God's doctrines behind trials and troubles.

1) Trials pray testing, perseverance, maturity, reward -> trust in God's character.

Read <Jas 1:2-4,12,5>

2) Modern believers usually do not think of wisdom as practical wisdom.

2. Developing practical wisdom by joining it with reflective wisdom.
1) Threefold Use of the Law: Mirror, Restrainer, Revealer.

2) Practical wisdom has to do with the third use of the law (Revealer of righteousness), i.e. to do what is pleasing to God.

(1) Law of Liberty <Jas 1:25, 2:12> does it give liberty when you follow the law?

(2) Royal Law <Jas 2:8> Do you keep only the laws that are convenient and pleasant for you, or that fit your inner character?

3. Putting practical wisdom into practice.

1) Being God-driven is actually being strong in gentleness, and seeking to know more to apply all things.

Read <Jas 3:13-18>

2) Priorities of the Law: do you love your neighbor as yourself? <Jas 2:8>

Read <Jas 1:27>

3) Maturing in faith and practical wisdom.

(1) Faith must have works be prepared to do good works.

Read <Jas 2:26>

(2) Works must prove your faith doing God's law in positive terms

Read <Jas 2:22>
