1. The exhortation to the process of internalizing knowledge <v1-4>

1) Before we recognize where we have fallen short, treasure God's commands <v1>

2) Incline and apply understanding (e.g. when half-solutions seem to work) <v2>

3) Go from being passive to actively praying, seeking for clear discernment and understanding <v3-4>

2. Fear of the LORD, the disposition necessary for knowledge to become preservation of our faith <v5-8>

1) Fearing and knowing God is an unimaginably precious reward <v5>

2) For only the LORD alone gives wisdom and divine inspiration <v6>

3) Stored-up knowledge itself has protection (God guards) <v7>

4) Keep commands, and Lord will keep you from wicked man and immoral woman <v8>

3. Special grace enables us to learn ethical practice intuitively <v9-11>

1) Understanding that “righteousness, justice and equity” is heavenly wisdom <v9>

2) This gives a regenerate heart, having no tension of God protecting saints against darkness <v10-11>
