Hold fast to that which is sure and steadfast <Heb 6:13-20>

Read <Heb 6:13-20>

1. For when God made the promise to Abraham

1) How the grace of God would not be offered to us in vain.

2) God promised to Abraham something seemingly incredible.

3) But Abraham waited patiently (for no one would have thought of it being effective) before he was made a partaker of the promised blessing.

4) God Himself swore that He is not true and faithful if He does not do what He promises (ref <Heb 3:11>).

2. The greater to swear by (assertion) <v13-15>.

1) The argument of : if it is credible that men swears by God's name, how much more if God swears by Himself.

* Christians are allowed to make an oath, but we should only swear by God's name, to bring the truth to light.

2) How gracious our Father accommodates Himself to our slowness to faith by adding an oath.

* We should be fully persuaded in the counsel of God, i.e. the Gospel.

3) Two immutable things: oath is yet added to a sure truth.

* Flee for refuge to God's sure promise, or you do not truly trust in God. (What is greater in your heart?)

3. This hope we have as an anchor of the soul.

1) As we sojourn in this world, Satan is stirring up countless storms.

2) We are to cast our anchor deeply on the truth of God, because the word of God can definitely connect us with Himself.

3) Until our faith reaches to God, the hope that enters the veil, following Jesus our Forerunner.
