Sunday Message, 2/4/2023, 11.30am

The Great Commission: God mobilizes the church to seek the lost. <Ac8:1-4; Ac 1:8; Ac17:3; Jn3:16-17,34; Jn17:8,18; Ro10:14-15; Lk15:32>

1.    Is there such a thing as systematic evangelism?

1)    How did the Christian church move from twelve people to becoming a large community?

·       Read <Ac 8:1-4>

2)    The structure of spreading evangelism in book of Acts.

kerygma = proclamation of the same essential gospel message (basic realities of the death, resurrection, and ascension of Christ).

·       Read <Ac 1:8> <Ac 17:3>

   Baptism.

didachē = teaching, supplemented the initial proclamation.

3) We cannot teach (educate) people into the kingdom of God -Why visitations and witnessing to talk about Christ

4) Ultimately, evangelism is less about the method and more about the message one proclaims.

* Evangelism training -> Learning church unity

2.    What is the mission of a church? What truths does it teach? For judgment or for redemption?

1)    The biblical basis for church doing missions.

   It was the Father’s idea.

·       Read <Jn 3:16>

The Father sent the Son to save.

·       Read <Jn 3:17>

Therefore, the Father and Son sent the Holy Spirit that is without measure.

·       Read <Jn 3:34>

The church was sent because it is the Word of God spoken in divine authority.

·       Read <Jn 17:8,18>

2) World missions

Carrying the gospel to the ends of the earth must be fulfilled.

The mission of God has always been a sending program.

The church should face the challenge and responsibility: to send.

·       Read <Ro  10:14-15>

The voice of the church congregation: Are you for or against missionary work?

3.    Learning God Who is seeking the lost ones.

1)   Would you look for where there is pain, with those considered social outcasts?

2)    In response to complains that Jesus associated with the marginalized, Jesus told the parables of the lost sheep, of the lost coin and of the lost son in <Lk 15>.

3)    Jesus defined His mission: “The Son of Man came to seek and to save the lost” (Luke 19:10).

   Will anyone be lost?

Does Jesus have a building, waiting behind closed doors for people to come and see Him?

Is the life of a lost person not worth more than a lost sheep or a lost drachma?

4)    The mission of the church: to keep the focus on God and His great joy at the repentance and return of the lost sinner.

·       Read <Lk 15:32>
