Deuteronomy Overview Part 2 - Blessings and Curses
To Know Tomorrow
We still have not restored the same heart if we cannot
hear the rebuke from God through our fellow people, especially our pastor. Can
we coworkers carry the cross while others in the congregation have not seen
yet? This is the message that God wants us to restore in these 2 years. How can
we walk together then?
1)
Who am I (the most successful = Child of God)
If we think we will have more assurance in being
successful by looking at conditions of a better family, career, etc, that will
become a channel of Satan. Our success tomorrow is received only by receiving
the success of the child of God right now.
Exodus: perfect will: answer, conviction, anointing
Promise
2)
You Must Stop => Sacrifice of the Shedding of Blood
It is easy to fall into weakness. Therefore we have to
stop the negative thoughts. Instead, after stopping our hearts, we must quickly
restore the sacrifice of the shedding of blood, open our eyes and see, receive
his conviction, preserve our hearts and minds, and train our fixed perspective.
Prayer
3)
Step By Step
In your own conditions, advance by moving step by step
. Do not be afraid of being slow.
Getting the Perfect Will of God
1. History
1)
5 big miracles: promise, principle, success/failure, sanctification,
encouragement
+
2)
Human history, church history, Israel, Jesus Christ, B.C. and A.D.
3)
5 big mysteries (individual) - born again, baptism, prayer, guidance,
evangelism
2. Law: principles of life (how to treat God,
yourself, interpersonal relationships, all things)
God does not give us law to bind us but to protect us from Satan who attacks 24 hours. Effectively, the
law eliminates our sins and cleanses us. The law also guides us and shows us how God loves us. This law must become fixed in our mind as the fixed
principle (love God and men, 10
commandments, law). When this fixed
principle has become our fixed perspective, we then can live our lives in
confidence, be quick and decisive in all matters and live in front of all men,
and not in fear or in doubts.
3. Prophecy => The Future is carved out Today
<Deuteronomy 28:1-19> <30:11-14>
1)
Curses and Blessings
Deut 28 talks about blessings and curses. And in Deut
30:11, God yet says, ŇFor this commandment which I command you this day, it is
not hidden from you, neither is it far off.Ó The law is never difficult if we
live as the child of God. The Lord commands us to follow because the curse spoken of in <Exodus 20:15> connects with Deuteronomy about how curses actually
chase us if we do not obey. This prophecy is really true. If you cannot see the
Lord working in you today, tomorrow will definitely turn out bad. Those who
consider again and again in worrying about how to eat healthily will in the end
become worse. However we eat or live, the bible says that we should do it by
faith. With that, God guides what we can eat today and tomorrow. The curse will
also chase us down to our other channels of living and the generations down if
we ever think it is okay to let go of a little bit by not having peace and joy
or by going to the world.
The announcements of blessings and curses are on two mountains.
Passage
Reading <27:1-28:68>
(1) Mount Gerizim => Blessings <28:1-14>
If we have the correct start, we will definitely have
peace and joy in whatever circumstances. We must definitely aim towards knowing
t the meaning of being blessed when you come in and when you go out. It is not
the abundance of spirituality, hearts and minds, body, spouse, children,
living, economic, etc that are considered blessings. They are considered
blessings when we are satisfied withwhat
God has given and arranged for us, and that God uses our conditions.
Promise -> Heart -> Discover/Test and approve
GodŐs perfect will
(2) Mount Ebal => Curses: Lose Promise
<Ge 3:1-6>
<Ge 3:7-14>
<Ge 3:16-19>
If we always think that God is unfair or complain
about others, the curse will definitely chase us. This is because we are losing
the promise in this condition. However, God never meant to curse His people,
therefore He proclaimed Jesus Christ so that He can replace us to be cursed.
(1) Newness of the Spirit
(2) Sacrifice Sin Offering: Jesus Christ
2)
Re-make the covenant
We should aim towards the state that it is not
difficult to believe and follow. But
the word is near you, in your
hands, in your mouth, and in your hearts. The Lord meant to tell us of the need to re-make the
covenant. Without having made a covenant between God and I, there will be no
way to have a turn over if I have being disciplined or fall into some
difficulty.
4. The taking over by the new generation
1)
Inherit
Moses -> Joshua -> IsraelŐs 12 tribes ->
Jesus Christ -> 12 disciples -> Who is next? <Eph 4:1-16>
Without having the new generation to inherit the old,
there would be no todayŐs Abraham, todayŐs Isaac, and todayŐs Jesus. As history has shown, new generation takes over the
old with the line: Moses, Joshua, IsraelŐs 12 tribes, Jesus Christ, 12
disciples. Who is next in the line? <Eph 4:1-16>
2)
MosesŐ Song
<1-14> Blessed
<15-27> Discipline
<28-33> Faithfulness
3)
Blessing as Prophecy <33:1-29>
The blessings are getting more and more concrete. We
are not afraid of repetition, but our words are getting more and more fresh and
concrete. Only a person of prayer can do such things.
4)
MosesŐ Death <34:1-12>
The world leaves the dead behind, with no one
remembering them. But Moses left behind the most blessed Joshua, who is able to
inherit the ministry that Moses could not finish. It should be that the one who
inherits is blessed by a hundred times.
