2 Samuel Overview Part 1 - Blessedly Anointed Gospel Person David

The hymn ÒRemnantÓ must be sung with vision. Once when I went to Grand Copthorne Hotel for the rehearsal for Patrick and YuyingÕs matrimony, as I held the microphone, I saw the vision of having the whole ballroom laid out in full classroom setting, seating 300 people. Have we the vision for 300 disciples? Some of us are sent ahead to suffer first to train us to pave the way. The time when the whole of Singapore will receive this Emmanuel message is through such discipleship training.

In this world, ÒinformationÓ is the most important, even where our career or studies is concerned. God gave us ÒinformationÓ before we can live and this ÒinformationÓ is the bible. In the past, God revealed the information through prophets. However, we are all saints now, and through the bible, we are to take the word of God and eat it up, like what is written in the book of Ezekiel, , and then prophesize by the word so that dry bones will be raised up to be a strong and living army of God. This discipleship training is for this very purpose. Do not only be satisfied at fulfilling attendance. Arrange everything in your life to come for this training. Despite the lack of sleep the previous night, my wife wanted to squeeze time out today to do up her hair, I suggested that she should not go to the salon but to use the time to restore her sleep. Do we take notes during discipleship training? Deacons, are you able to give a summary of the content of every book from Genesis till 1 Samuel if a preacher comes to you, wanting to hear them out?

1) Books of the Law (Promise): accomplishment

4 Gospelizations: Purpose = Genesis

5 Mysteries: Method = Exodus

When I used the 5 mysteries as the perspective to view myself, the problems I meet, receive the will of God, how to live, and to step onto the ground of inheritance, these become the methods to accomplish the 4 gospelizations.

Leviticus, Numbers, Deuteronomy

Why was David so blessed? Many people want to learn from David. He was blessed by the foundation of the books of the Law.

2) History Books: David

The representation of the history books is David! In the past, 1, 2 Samuel and 1, 2 Kings were one book. They were then divided:

1 Samuel: David arisen

2 Samuel

1 Kings

2 Kings: Last king Jehoiachin that was exiled.

Only 2 kings: Hezekiah and Josiah followed God. All these books were written according to the benchmark and example of David. He is the manifestation of the books of the Law! Therefore the quotes Òfollowed the ways of DavidÓ continually appeared in the Kings.

3) Prophets

The book of Prophets prophesized by Òbecause you have/have not followed according to the ways of David...Ó

4) Psalms: Evangelism

Psalms are all about DavidÕs prayers, victories, thanksgivings, and praises.

5) 4 Gospel Books: Jesus Christ

<Mt 1:1> AbrahamÕs descendant, the Son of David, Jesus Christ!

<Mt 1:17> 14 generations from Abraham to David, 14 generations from David till Babylon return from exile, and 14 generations from then till Jesus Christ.

6) Acts = Joshua

ÒActsÓ is continually fulfilling even now. The purpose of ÒActsÓ is for establishing the church.

7) Church Epistles (22)

The Body of Christ, the shepherding of Christ, discerning of the gospel and cults, and the testimonies of ChristÕs Body are recorded in the epistles.

All the above is the ÒinformationÓ I emphasized at the very beginning of this meeting. If we do not have this ÒinformationÓ, we will not be able to acquire the heart and intention of the Lord. If we do not understand this central information, but yet read and preach the bible, even if you are a preacher or pastor, it is by flesh and blood that we do.

DavidÕs era is more blessed than JoshuaÕs era. What JoshuaÕs era could not drive out, David drove out. And no king can ever compare to DavidÕs conquests.

1 Samuel Overview

When we have understood the above, what is the content of Ò1 SamuelÓ?

(1) The weakness of Israel

(2) Hannah: NazariteÕs prayers (Living sacrifice) <Romans 12:1-2>

Samuel was born through the HannahÕs prayers. ÒBrothers, I admonish you now: test and approve to seek out GodÕs will in all things.Ó

(3) MizpahÕs Movement (Meet God -> Relationship (with God, self, world, all people) established (repent and turn to God) -> Believe Jehovah Jireh (God has already prepared everything for us) -> Converse -> Walk with God (7 fields)

Samuel continually ÒranÓ about a few places to give the word movement. If you realize, the above ÒformatÓ is found in the 20 Basic Messages. Walking with God is the 10 Healing Messages (relationships become even better). Every relationship with your church, family, career, people have become better. This is the traditional and orthodox belief. This is the foundation of our belief. We must return to the foundation to do our work and live our family life. If we have not gone through this way, we have not lived by the traditional belief of life, power, and evangelism.

Every revival servant of God in history always returned to talk about ÒAbrahamÕs beliefÓ, ÒHow the Red Sea openedÓ, etc. Following, Martin Luther arose with the Reformation. John Knox is the founder of Presbyterian. In Scotland, his prayers restored the liveliness of the Anglican and Lutheran Churches. Roman Catholics say that they are always one denomination. However, without living one faith, one Lord, one baptism, they are not considered one denomination, but each and every of their believers will have their own views and perspectives. Thus there are thousands of ÒdenominationsÓ within them.

The central focus of present believers is that of their own. If the believer wants to seek out the very information of God to live, he is truly blessed. GodÕs eyes scan and comb through the whole world seeking for such people of faith. Are we just worried or concerned only on how our careers will develop? But God wants to use whatever conditions He has given us.

(4) Saul vs David

God emphasized the failure of Saul and the success of David. God did this on purpose. This is the mystery of God. Whoever I want to use, I will raise him up, and vice versa. This is written in Romans 9. However, we must know that God is fair in managing all these. David actually committed more sins than Saul by being a murderer, adulterer, and deceiver to all Israelites. However, the reason why Saul failed was because when the word of God was so clear to Saul, he did not turn to God.

2 Samuel Overview

1. Blessedly anointed ÒDavidÓ <1-10>

2. David who sinned and received discipline <11-20>

David is a gospel person. The sins committed by a gospel person and a religious person are different. We learn the lesson of Jesus Christ through this. David understood the gospel first. David told Nathan that he repented, and therefore Nathan told him, ÒYou will not die, but your son will die.Ó David came before the Lord for repentance so boldly, and he also took discipline so peacefully. When David sinned by doing a census of Israel, he chose to place his own life into GodÕs hands, as God is the most righteous and gracious.

3. David who was sanctified and thus gave testimonies <21-24>

Psalms 51 writes, ÒI am in great pain because of my sin and there are tears on my pillow... Lord, I have already sinned in my motherÕs womb.Ó David knew about the foundation of sin. ÒTherefore, Lord, forgive me.Ó Therefore he quickly came out from his own sin and continued to renew. He also prayed, Òwhen I am cleansed, I will teach people about the LordÓ.

Passage Reading: 2 Samuel 7

V3 Nathan did not really pray when he first gave David the advice.

V8 Even though David could not build the temple of God, God blessed David.

V9 ÒI have been with you wherever you have gone, and I have cut off all your enemies from before you. Now I will make your name great, like the names of the greatest men of the earth.Ó Ò你无论往哪里去,我常与你同在,剪除你的一切仇敌。我必使你得大名,好象世上大大有名的人一样。ÓPlace this everywhere!

1. Blessedly anointed ÒDavidÓ <1-10>

1) Gospel Person (Perspective, Do Things, RJGX = Glory God/ Benefit People/ Build Kingdom)

<1> Immediately, David had mercy and compassion on Saul, the LordÕs anointed, when he heard how Saul died through an uncircumcised Amalekite. He had mercy even though Saul had chased him after for 10 over years. His followers could all see his ways. Immediately, he cut the Amalekite off.

<2> David ruled over Judah and Benjamin. But Abner, though he knew, gave Ish-Bosheth to be ruler over the other of Israel. David respected Abner so much.

<3-4> Once, Joab used the name of David to deceive and stab Abner to death. Even though Abner was the enemy of David, he had compassion on Abner. This is not hypocritical but having the very heart of God. Even though Joab was faithful to David all these years, David did this to show his follower that it was wrong doing that. In mourning for Abner, Israel once again confirmed DavidÕs character as had been all along. The people of the world do things according to their own flesh and blood. This destroys the life of people. David, as a gospel person, waited for people and had creational life. This is an important example. We are the deacons and workers of this age. Therefore, quickly learn how we respond to enemies. Sometimes, we see our boss doing things here and there to improve relationships with people. Actually, there is no need for this. Firstly, of course, we must manage our emotions with people so that people will know our principles. Secondly, be willing to be let go. Thirdly, if I received such a slander from Satan, I pray for God to avenge on their heads, but rewards on myself more than the returns more than on him. We pray not against people, but against Satan.

<5> David reunited Israel.

From the above, we can see that David managed everything in God-driven way. If our small group members listen to us because of our position, there is a limitation unless we do everything by the gospel in the way that is God-driven.

2) Prayer (Ark -> Tabernacle) <6>

The minister must know the most important thing, and this is none other than prayer.

(1) Relationship (5 offerings), Father and son, Lord and servant, Identity (Child of God), Purpose (4 Gospelizations), Method (5 Mysteries)

(2) Confirm (Promise accomplished - confirm how God has accomplished in my family and work) ... Conditions, Past

Once you wake up, understand that you wake up for this very reason. Then we must delight ourselves in God. Therefore we must confirm and thus give thanks. Immediately, we can praise in our conditions, the deacons that God has given to me, etc.

(3) Test and seek

Since God has given the most blessed deacons to me, given such a blessed meeting to me, I just pray lively and seek the perfect will of the living God. For example, I prayed for Patrick and gave thanks by confirming his blessed life. Yet when he has a little bit of weakness, I do not change but base my perspective in prayer by testing and approving from what I confirmed out of his life.

(5) Maintain: Scheduled, continuous, concentration prayer

If you know when to do a concentrate prayer, you are quite a blessed person. Some believers do not know when to pray what. For example, when such a challenge comes to brother Guorong, he knows and realizes that this is the best chance to get anointing. When you have problems in career, realize GodÕs sensitive guidance by understanding that the opportunity to get wealthy will come.

Are there times when you cannot eat because of things that happen to brothers and sisters? Or do we just eat and be merry? Understand what I mean about the mind concentrating on no other but the love and concern for the heart of God.

3) The eternal covenant Jehovah made towards David

(1) David greatly hoped to build the temple

No matter when, he thought about GodÕs things. When one is in such a state, his life is already in the delight of God. It is like he has concern for nothing but the LordÕs. Such is the life of the each of the 300 disciples I prayed! This is rare among the present believers! They only socialize after the meetings.

(2) Whole life promise (be with him always, cut off all his enemies, made his name great)

Last week, I told a sister who came for discipleship training, ÒSince we are on the stage, we have no choice but to act well on the stage.Ó We do not have a great wild expectation, but this is about leading the Israelites. Sometimes, I want to hide my weaknesses so as I can continually live brightly before the Lord, and that I have quickly restored God. However, when I lead people, I see that they have fallen into weaknesses and I cannot but share about my own weaknesses the very past night, to encourage people. We cannot but stand on to fight the battle. If we are already in such a path, God will arise us up from our small conditions.

(3) Eternal promise (made his descendants succeed him, established his kingdom, be his Father/ be My son, discipline/love will not leave)

I thought about my children and my disciples. God promised the everlasting covenant with David and his descendants. How much will God bless our children? How much more will He bless us after we have stood to pray in front of Him?

(4) DavidÕs prayer and praise <1Th 5:16-18>

Even when I receive a car summon ticket, I immediately think about my identity as the image of God. Have we the secret to immediately receive freedom through just a short prayer? The vision we have is so great that how can we ever stay sorrowfully in setbacks?

7) DavidÕs kingdom grew stronger and stronger

In victory, David won over all enemies who continually disturbed Israel. When we make a covenant with God, all our old problems will go away.

Righteously, David righteously and justly gave work jobs to all peoples, according to what they had achieved, where all can see.

Love: Even though the present churches are really not right, I love and pray for them.

Abounding

We must acquire the logic, spirituality, emotions and character of David. Many people think that the gospel person is a robot, where they only talked about the kingdom, etc. But he is one who causes his wife, family, boss and colleagues to be in comfort. His attitude, joining together to God and thus wisdom to deal with all things are all smooth. When he receives the 4 gospelizations and 5 mysteries, he is equipped to have such wisdom. If my words of God only turn on when I am on the pulpit, and turn off when I am off the pulpit, no one will want to follow God. Do you understand what I mean? I pray that all of us here understand the life of David and be willing to live like this.
