Bible Overview till 2 Samuel - Use God’s Word to Conquer Everything in the World

I do not know how you think, but for me, because the gospel I know is the greatest, I want to challenge the greatest. Whenever I lose this greatest vision, I have lost the battle. We do not need to be earnest about a lot of things. But we must receive the greatest blessing of God. I shall not be moved by any of man’s words . Instead my focus is on God and on how He views my life. If I can see my life as how God views mine, I am the most blessed. Then, I shall pray for people related to me. The person I love most is my wife. To love her, I use prayer to serve her. Do you understand this? Because I am the source of all blessings, I must pray for her and pass the greatest blessing I have received to her. To what extent she can be blessed is up to her, but my responsibility is to pray for her this way.

We also love our children most. What do we give to them? How do we do so? We do for our children by the guidance of the Holy Spirit. Some people say that they want to be in the line of world gospelization. However, do they do this by prayer? Why do I continue to live happily when people look at me as if I have great difficulty in raising 3 children up in the midst of serving? If we have not known the purpose of marriage for this very purpose, why do we get married? Really ponder about this! But when we have a vision, the power in the soul will overcome everything.

If we want to just build a family church, I think we should just close it. We must build a church of disciples. The vision that we have is to pray for 30,000 disciples in Singapore to be raised up, I pray that we will have 3,000 disciples in this church, and be a pioneer in this way. Do we have such a practical vision? I went jogging this week and I find God very pleased with me through my prayers. Do we have such an experience? Do we only want to look at our small jobs only? When I want to retreat a bit from this vision, God never allowed me. This week, we had a casual talk with our maid. We found out that she wanted to study theology. My wife almost fainted on hearing this. She has the heart of God and does not have the love of the world. I prayed this morning and I received 2 convictions regarding this. Firstly, God really loves me, so that He gave me overwhelming blessings. Secondly, I saw that God is really zealous in accomplishing His plan. I am not being exaggerated, but when brothers and sisters do not think much of our message or ministry, God gave evidence to me to show His pleasure.

Do not be satisfied by just our own jobs or ministries. From today onwards, throw this intention away. This is sinning against God. Discover how God is so zealous for you.

God uses emphasis and repetition to illustrate His meaning of zealousness. Therefore, a person’s vision can only get bigger. When God’s word says, “Let there be light”, there will surely be light. If we used God’s word to judge everything, this is what will be accomplished. The picture that we draw with God’s word now is the very thing that will be fulfilled. God’s word and principle were first preached, and from then on, God repeated this throughout history by all kinds of ways. If we grasp God’s purpose, we will move.

Genesis: Promise

The weight of Genesis is the same as the whole of 66 books in the bible.

<1-11> Principle of Living

<1> Creation

Genesis is not about concluding on things like eating vegetables versus eating meat. If a person has lost the principle by which he is created for, like Adam after sinning, even our breathing is sinning.

<1:27> Me (Emmanuel)

<1:28> 4 Gospelizations

<3> Depravity

The Fall is not about lack of goodness, but losing every reason of God. If we have lost the intention and heart of God to socialize, this is depravity.

<3:15> <3:21> God already revealed salvation here.

<6> Ark

In Noah’s era, there were no more Christians, except Noah and his family. Some Sunday school materials picture the other people as murderers and thieves, but there are good non-christians around, which the bible says are unrighteous.

<11> Tower of Babel = World

Christians are called out from this World.

<12-50> Christians (Abraham, Isaac, Jacob, Joseph)

If we have acquired the principle of living, we will then be called as Christians.

1) Abraham ([Salvation, Covenant, Altar - shedding of blood] Mt Moriah (Living Sacrifice, Receive Inheritance to live)

“Abraham, come out from the world and go to the place of salvation”. If we have missed the crux meaning, it is better that we do not read the bible. But having the crux, we will therefore derive that Abraham is the symbolization of all believers.

2) Issac (blessed)

Actually Isaac is actually a very weak Christian. God used Isaac to emphasize that even such a weak believer can be blessed. Is anything we received what we are worthy of receipt? Every blessing must come from God to His child.

3) Jacob (Sanctification)

Do not be afraid of sanctification. If we have not gone through the process of sanctification, we will just be drinking milk. But if we have, we will grow up tested and be able to influence an era. Jacob blessed Pharaoh and prophesied Israel’s future.

4) Joseph (Conquer)

* Individual

God already said in the very beginning, “I will make you great among nations, and you will be a source of all blessings”, and He said this from the very beginning, even to Adam. This is God’s main promise and it came with no conditions attached.

* Family (family clan)

Chinese New Year is the door to gospelization of our family clan. Do not just go visitation to get to familiarize with our relatives or retreat from this reunion, thinking that there is no meaning. I talked to my cousin’s wife, who had not received a child for years. I confirmed with her on her belief first as she was a Roman Catholic, whether her belief is only Jesus Christ and how God will bless those who only believe in Him. I spoke to her with a bit of mysticism because this family worships idols very deeply, and only such phrases were able to catch her notice. After confirming, I talked to her that she should stop praying for a child but start praying for her husband to believe. I even told her to read 1 Samuel, and that if the child did come 1 year later, she must give him the name, Samuel. I have tested and sought God’s will in this family, and I must prophesize like this. (We must prophesize too, but depending on the situations.) Do not think that I am going into mysticism, because I know that this family will come back to me again even if they were to bear a child. If they do not know the true gospel, there will be problems bringing him up.

* Region, World

Exodus

This is the accomplishment of God’s promise.

1) Born again

God used 9 long plaques to emphasize the miracle of “born again”. God has been with us, but we do not know! By dying with all our motives and knowing God’s will is being “born again”. Born again is everything. Once a person has been born again, he cannot go back to Egypt. You can only continue to move on in what God has planned for you.

Why do people go to charismatic churches to get supernatural strength? This is because man cannot see God, and their natures have no desire to see God’s reason in normal things. They want to see things that are out of the norm or things that are exciting to the souls. If we do not know what is “born again”, such that we see the past gaping darkness and the 180 degrees difference of the light we have walked into, we are not disciples or the ones with commission.

2) Cross Red Sea: Overcome (Submit and follow)

I tell you the truth: even if we do not do anything, we will cross 100 Red Seas in our lives. How can God tell His children to die? Problems will definitely go away given time, but if we keep having our hearts in the state of being rebuked, the Red Sea miracle will be delayed, till the day of revelation. For some, even if it came, they may not even notice that they have crossed the “Red Sea”.

3) Tabernacle: converse, play in God

4) Wilderness: in all things, receive His perfect will

5) Conquer: Canaan (Evangelism)

Exodus is about the 5 miracles, or the zealousness of God. This is the method that God wants to use to accomplish the 4 gospelizations. From here, everything unfolds to be accomplished after Genesis and Exodus.

Leviticus (Converse)

This is about prayer. If we are carnal or are not in the Spirit, we will not be able to read this book or complete it. If we have not known the 4 gospelizations and the 5 miracles, and if we ask God for something in prayer, we will have no root and foundation and it will not reach the heart of God. Our prayers must start with us already knowing that God’s will goes right from understanding Genesis 1 to Exodus’ 5th miracle in conquering Canaan (evangelism).

1) Burnt Offering: Living Sacrifice (Relationship of God-son/Master-servant)

Our relationship with God must be restored.

Grain offering: Thanksgiving

In salvation, there is already everything.

Peace offering: Peace with God

We have given thanks, but there may be some “emotions” with God that we have not yet settled.

Sin Offering: Wash (Submit)

God tells us to do so one time in the morning, and another time in the evening. I know that as young people, we may sometimes have some desires of the flesh. If that is really so, go before God and talk to God to wait for you. If not, sin will crawl and wait at your door.

Restitution Offering: Add 20%

This is for being able to be bold in front of God and with men.

2) High Priest: Jesus Christ accomplishing promise, perfect will

When we pray, have we thought that we are one person like Jesus Christ praying to God? If not, we are not praying by the accomplishments of the High Priest.

3) Tabernacle structure: -> Most Holy Place

Our prayers must reach the Most Holy Place. Our prayers must reach till that our spirits are changed. Even if we have a lot of words, or we use emotions to pray, it may just work a few times. But the prayer has not hit the point. Our prayers can surely reach death and resurrection every time, as this is what God has promised. Once, when my boss told me that knowing tongues is good, I went home and tried. However, the heart is not changed through such abilities or activities. After trying a while, I know that this is not the way.

4) Morning (20min), Night (15min)

Do not do so only just before going to sleep if you feel tired after a whole day at work.

5) Life, Power, Inheritance: 3 festivals

Then, we will surely get the evidence of 3 festivals.

Can we, when asked by other preachers, list and explain each and every of the books of the bible to them? We brothers, especially, must know. Sisters can roughly know as most will not teach (this is a blessed image of a sister who listens), but have testimonies. Of course, if in the future, you are called to be one who teaches, you should equip now. This is my challenge to you.

For the present era, a 500-people pure Chinese church is really among the top churches. Even when Chinese preachers study theology, they study from translations from English materials, or from English materials directly. However, we now have direct Chinese materials. Build up our theology this way through Chinese as God has given this chance.

Numbers: Walk with God

* Disciples’ principle of living.

The most important thing is that I am within.

1) Central to the part of the Body of Christ: Living Sacrifice

We walk by the trumpet blowing of the priests. Whether the trumpet blew fast or slow, the whole Israel moved and acted by it. Israel walked central to the tabernacle. If the tabernacle moved, Israel moved. Therefore, we should really pray for the pastor, who is the high priest for the church, and be close to the church, in ministry and in heart. I cannot emphasize enough on how important this is.

2) Reason for failure

The reason for the failure of Aaron and some leaders is that they rejected God’s chosen leader. Sometimes, when I mention the 4 gospelizations and 5 miracles, I see some people “sigh” and it seems that they find it boring, “Again?” I know, one day they will explode in showing failure.

3) New generation (Moab)

The generation with those people who spied and gave a negative report all died in the wilderness, except for Joshua and Caleb.

Deuteronomy: Fixed Perspective

To walk with God, we must have a fixed perspective. Do we admire others of getting good things and evidence from the Lord, and felt sour that God never gives? I tell you, if God gave me a problem child, I will pray and let all see how this problem is the greatest blessing. Many believers do not believe this!

Why did all fall in the wilderness except for Joshua and Caleb? Didn’t they come out from Egypt and are born again? Didn’t they cross the Red Sea and saw Pharaoh’s armies drowned by water? Did they not taste the water from the rock and gave thanks to God? But the acceptance of the negative report on the spies shows that their lives had no connection with the fixed perspective on the promise that God had given to them. Joshua and Caleb, by the fixed perspective, they were able to see that if they conquer those giants, they would have even greater testimonies for the era! Even for those who have problems in their career, having a fixed perspective will translate to them going into a new and fresh way of global business for God. Complaints would only give way to their ugly sides, that they did not really believe the promise God gave to them. This is the most important! I have talked from Genesis till now, but this is the most important. Those who just see some portion of evidence here and there will not win this age. These people will be excited at some portions of evidence, but complain when they do not get any. Without any fixed perspective, such people should not think that they should receive anything from the Lord. This is what the book of James says.

Ab - Is - present time

Test me. If you spit saliva on me, what will go through my train of thoughts? Those who bless me are blessed. Those who do not, I do not need their blessings, but they have discounted themselves. Do we get the favour of men to see ourselves? No, instead I see myself by what the Lord sees me.

2) Use Law, Decrees, Principles...

Spirit of accusation <-> Love God, Love Men

3) Use Prophecy

Actually every time I go on stage to preach on Sundays, I use the prophecies of curses and blessings, “If you follow these, you will receive blessings. If not, you will receive curses.” Why are there more curses listed in Deuteronomy than blessings? This is because God does not want His beloved to walk the wrong path.

These are the 5 books of the Law. For a few thousand of years, this is the whole bible that Israel took hold of. Therefore, do not look down on this book.

Joshua

1) Promise

I will be with you. Do not be afraid. Whatever you step on, that will be given you.

2) Evidence

If you want to win over Satan, you must use evidence. Israel had not any new clothes or shoes, and was in the wilderness for 40 years! Therefore, Jericho feared, and there was no need to fight.

3) Conquer (13 times timetable)

Israel used evidences to go round Jericho. With such evidences, the battle is already won by going round and round. There is not a need to fight so hard to conquer.

4) Division of Land

Why did Caleb receive the Hebron land? This was because he continued to pray for conquering this land.

5) Admonition

Joshua admonished, “The way to blessings and curses is already given, but I shall follow the Lord.”

Judges

During the time of Joshua, there was not one person who leaned towards weakness. However, the era of judges was an era of weaknesses.

1) Leave behind neighbouring inhabitants

Because the Israelites left some people behind that they should drive out, they were prone to worries.

2) Repeatedly fail: Judges came

God sent judges to help them when they failed. However, every time a judge helped them, and they failed again, and the darkness got only stronger. The last judge in Judges was Samson, who was a Nazarite. However, he too was weak himself.

3) Worship failure

And finally, it is emphasized that the reason of the failure of Israel in Judges is because of the failure of worship or failure.

Ruth

During this era of weakness, God found Ruth to give birth to Jesus Christ.

1) Blessed Life

2) Blessed Meeting

She met Boaz, and this is not about romance. If we have a blessed life, we will surely meet the most blessed person.

3) Reliance (Resolution)

When we have met Jesus, do we resolute to surrender ourselves to Jesus?

4) Blessed Fruits

Therefore, Obed was born, who was the father of Jesse, and who was the father of David.

1 Samuel

Samuel, Saul, David

Our Sunday school must teach this.

1) Restoration movement: movement of the era

2) 2 disciples: Saul (failed), David (succeeded)

David met God -> built up relationship -> Saw God’s work -> Conversed, Walked with God -> Relationships continued to expand

For Saul, he failed because after he met God, he pursued his own desires. David was one who continued to see that he was not blessed enough, and so he continued to want to meet God, get His favour, test and seek His will, etc. Therefore, Saul continued to fail in increasing measure.

3) Crux of success and failure

2 Samuel

1) Blessed David <1-4>

2) David who sinned and received discipline <11-20>

David slept till twilight. This means he prayed little. Therefore, when he saw a lady bathing, he could not stop the weakness. When Bathesheba became pregnant, he feared that all would come to know of his folly, and wanted to trick and kill Uriah. Eventually, the son died, and his sons all wanted to seize the throne.

3) Sanctification and Testify <21-24>

David again sinned by counting the men of Israel fit for fighting, but he repented. At the end, he bought a piece of land. David replied, “I will not offer anything to the Lord that costs me nothing.” That was the place Abraham wanted to kill Isaac, and that was also the place Solomon built the temple. David was really one after God’s heart.
