救恩本身是上帝一切的赏赐。倘若一个人没得着救恩(在神国无份),他现在拥有的一切都是为了被毁灭而存在的。倘若一个人已得了基督的救恩,却轻看里头的祝福,他的一生无法享受救恩里头极大的福分(指望、基业、能力),地上过的人生将是空虚混沌,浪费光阴。救恩的价值在哪?首先,救恩是白白给与的。但救恩的价值也在与他不是给与每个人的,更不是出于人的意志能得着,乃是神在祂永恒的旨意里已经预定要赐给祂所拣选的子民。所以,神在整个人类历史中,选出一部分的人,使他们能够听信基督的福音。在神的大预定里(万事的被造与运行),祂子民的救恩为中心点。万事都是以神民得着救赎为中心。所以,倘若神没有预定,有谁能得着这救恩?倘若人接受基督的救恩不是来之神的预定(在神的旨意里成就的),这救恩的价值只限于人的伟大,是人按着他的意志选择了耶稣,救恩也因此毫无神的荣耀了。另外,人的生活(包括他成圣的道路)是否在神的预定里?事实上也是,因为神有绝对的主权,但这并不排除人的责任。人的责任与神的预定是配合的。首先,没有一个人能参透神的旨意,而神的旨意是永远坚定的,正在进行,也继续带又新又活的发展。所以,当一个人得着生命(圣灵)之后,神给与他儿女一样的圣灵,一样的话语,所以我们每个重生的人都有潜能成为一个亚伯拉罕,而不成为一个罗得。我们每一个人都有潜能成为一个大卫,而不成为一个扫罗。所以,不要进入:“既然神预定了,我们还需要传福音或牧养吗?还需要认真的生活吗?”相反的,因为神预定了,我们看见上帝的急迫与非成就不可的旨意,所以运用神给我们的自由意志,寻找八福人,尽心尽性尽力将福音传开。倘若因神的预定,明白神的旨意而行在里头的人,他们反而得着更大的能力与赏赐。所以,在认识预定论里,我们一定要找到神的作为与人的责任的交叉相遇点。例如:在人的自由意志里有神的干涉与管教《希12:4-6》;在神的拣选里有人的责任《腓1:6;2:12》。唯有如此认识才是全备真理所讲的预定论。
Salvation itself is God’s complete reward. If a person does not receive salvation (has no part in the Kingdom of Heaven), what he possesses now exists only to be destroyed. If a person has received Christ’s salvation, but takes his blessings lightly, he would not be able to enjoy the extremely great blessings (hope, inheritance, power) in the salvation. His life on earth would be meaningless and empty; a waste of time. What then is the value of salvation? Firstly, salvation is given free. But the value of salvation also lies in the fact that it is not given to everyone, neither can one obtain it through his will. It is what God has predestined in His eternal will to give to His elected people. Therefore, in the whole history, God chose a group of people to be able to hear and believe the gospel of Christ. In God’s predestination (the creation and operation of all things), the salvation of His people is at the center. All things converge to the salvation of God’s people. Therefore, without God’s predestination, who can receive this salvation? If a person receives the salvation of Christ not through God’s predestination (accomplished in God’s will), the value of salvation is only as great as the nobleness of the man who chose Jesus in his will. In this, salvation no longer has God’s glory. Besides that, is a person’s life (including his process of sanctification) in God’s predestination? In fact, this is also true. Because God has absolute sovereignty. However, this does not absolve man’s responsbility. Man’s responsibility and God’s predestination is compatible. Firstly, no one can fathom God’s will, and God’s will is forever steadfast, underway and it continues to bring new and living developments. Therefore, when a person received life (Holy Spirit), God gave the same Holy Spirit and the same Word to His children so that all who are born-again have the potential to become an Abraham, not Lot. We all have the potential to be David, not Saul. Therefore, do not enter into the thinking: “Since God has already predestined, do we still need to evangelise or shepherd? Do we need to live our lives seriously?” On the contrary, because God has predestined, we see God’s imperative and unstoppable will, therefore we must make use of the free will given by God to seek out people of the Beatitudes, and do our best to spread the gospel. Because God has predestined, understanding God’s will and acting in it will enable one to receive greater power and reward. Therefore, in understanding predestination, we must find the intersection between God’s work and man’s responsibility. For example: In man’s free will, there is God’s intervention and discipline <He 12:4-6>; in God’s election, there is man’s responsibility <Ph 1:6; 2:12>. Only this understanding is the complete truth of predestination.
