The bible said, “It is for freedom that Christ has set us free. Stand firm, then, and do not let yourselves be burdened again by a yoke of slavery” < Gal 5:1>. Although everyone has different definitions to freedom, no one in the right frame of mind will want to lose this freedom. To certain people, freedom means to be able to do all that their hearts desire, and go where they want to go. Some may think that freedom is not being indebted to anyone financially. If so, it is hard for people staying in Singapore to receive freedom, because generally, Singaporean will take loans to buy houses or cars.  All in all, many people will determine if they have freedom through money matters, even more so for us who live in a fast-paced city with high standard of living. Therefore, some people will want to work more diligently when they are young so that they can earn more money. In future when they are older, they can be happy because they do not need to depend on their children. These are what typical people will think. Actually, it is indeed foolish to only think about tomorrow, and live for the future. Who will know what may come? As a man ages, he could be very rich, but if he is ill stricken and restricted in mobility, he still has to depend on others, he will still be unhappy. The true freedom God wants to give us is above the need and satisfaction of materials. God does not want us to be burdened by the yoke of slavery. In another word, God is not willing for us to worry about tomorrow or anxious about the future. The freedom that God gives to men comes from the spirit. When one is satisfied in the spirit, he naturally can enjoy all things and people around him. If not, he will never receive true satisfaction and freedom regardless of how much money or power he has.
