Do we often receive certain updates that are refreshing, interesting, or news that attract many’s attention? But often, all these are temporal and shortlived. Generally, people will have certain things that they want to receive or seek. For example: material enjoyment, good health, longevity, children’s obedience etc. It applies to both non-believers and believers. Perhaps, believers have even more reasons to desire certain earthly blessings. We may assume that, with more good conditions, it is easier to testify and evangelize. If we do not need to worry about material stuff, we will then have more time to spread the gospel and do Lord’s work. A lot of Christians think like that. However, is this the only channel through which God can use us? Are God’s great power, His love, and all blessings given us, spread-able only when we have these better conditions? Certainly not! More and more believers think that if they have certain conditions, it is easier for them to evangelize, hence, they easily enter into prosperity –seeking faith. They often hold onto related scriptures which mention how God blesses us, eg < Deu 28:6; Ep 1:4; Mt 21:22>. God has already given us the greatest blessing (eternal life). There are many spiritual characters in the bible who did not have smooth-sailing encouters in life too. They walked with God because they have received grace from God, and understood His will. When they did so, God added strength upon them Himself. This is what we ought to receive today. God’s grace is not supposed to be abstract, remaining as knowledge only. It must become our practical power, practical aid. For grace to become practical power, understanding God’s will is the bridge.
